    Performs a wide variety of functions relating to the Credit Union’s benefits programs and other functions in support of the Human Resources Department.



    • Administers the various employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), voluntary benefits, COBRA, worker’s compensation and pension plans. Assists with processing employee claims for Life and AD&D insurance, short-term disability and long-term disability.
    • Maintains and updates the Credit Union’s benefits management system with employee status changes, reference materials and other related communications and announcements.
    • Serves as the Credit Union’s subject matter expert with regard to its health and welfare benefit platforms, and assists in answering employee questions or concerns regarding benefit matters.
    • Assists with the administration of the Credit Union’s leave of absence processes and notifications in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws. Serves as main point-of-contact for LOAs.
    • Maintains employee benefit files, records and other benefit-related information and documentation.
    • Reconciles insurance premium invoices and prepares remittances for insurance premiums.
    • Maintains knowledge of federal, state and local benefit administration laws, regulations and best practices.
    • Serves as Credit Union liaison between benefits brokers, vendors and carrier representatives to ensure proper coordination of benefit issues and communication.
    • Facilitates the presentation of benefits information for all new employees either in person or phone conference.
    • Coordinates annual open enrollment with vendors, brokers and sends applicable communications to staff.
    • Tracks and communicates employee benefit payments for COBRA, leaves of absence, and retiree medical.
    • Completes regular audits to ensure the accuracy of benefit information contained within HRIS system.
    • Assists Payroll Representative, management and external auditors in yearly 401(k), Pension and Workers Compensation audits and filing of 5500 forms.
    • May be asked to assist with indirect benefits including employee morale activities, employee newsletter and community involvement.
    • Ensures full compliance with UNIFY Financial Credit Union Service Standards, policies, and procedures; and with the Bank Secrecy Act.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.



    • High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred; and a minimum of three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Requires understanding of California wage and hour laws including Fair Labor Standards Act; health benefits; worker’s compensation; 401(k); and defined benefit plans.
    • Requires strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Must be proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software applications.
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information and issues.
